Homebuyer Privacy Just Got a Big Upgrade
Most “trigger leads” are ending. Starting March 5, 2026, credit bureaus can’t sell your mortgage-inquiry data without consent. Offers may only come from your current lender/servicer, your bank or credit union, or with your explicit permission—restoring privacy and cutting spam for homebuyers.

The Homebuyers Privacy Protection Act: What It Means for Your Mortgage Privacy
The Homebuyers Privacy Protection Act has officially passed Congress and is on its way to the President’s desk. Once signed into law, this important legislation will limit the use of “trigger leads” — protecting homebuyers from the flood of unsolicited calls and texts that often follow a mortgage credit check. Most importantly, it safeguards your personal information, giving you more control over your home financing journey.
